Some cats occasionally regurgitate hairballs of fur that have collected in their stomachs as a result of their grooming. Longhaired cats are more prone to this than shorthaired cats.
I don’t think the cat is “ugly” per se. Just exists outside the socially-accepted norm for cats in the eyes of humans. No looker, to be sure, but that doesn’t make it “ugly”. Has more to do with the expression, anyhow, I think.
On behalf of my persian, who I find adorable in an evil looking way, is in no way “ugly” I am totally offended. Also, my cat is not actually evil, she’s just average.
