“Are you kidding? My 8 year old brother reads this site!”
Then block the website. Some of us find this one really funny.
Furthermore, you are asking our help to spread a lie. What is the purpose of the lie? To believe in some over-weight stalker who watches you to know if you’ve been good? It is simply a way for parents to get their kids to behave without painting themselves as the possible bad-guy. It would be much, much simpler to just tell them that Santa isn’t real, but if they don’t behave, you {or rather, the parents} won’t get them that extra present. It avoids having to worry about anything like this, and also avoids future heartbreak when they find out he is, in fact, a lie.

Actually, I’m a steadfast Christian, but I dont see how Santa has anything to do with Christianity. If anything, he takes away from the holiday, making it more about the material aspect than the fact that it’s we are thankful for our Savior’s birth.

Actually my entire family is Catholic. I just find it ridiculous that we have to perpetuate a lie in order to get the children to behave. Santa isn’t real. Get over it. If you don’t want your 6-year-old sister or whatever reading this, then BLOCK THE SITE. Mkay?

1) Most people in the world do not believe in Santa. A majority of people in the world do not celebrate the Anglo-American version of Christmas.
2) Santa has absolutely nothing to do with the beliefs of Christianity. There is no Santa in the Bible. The celebration of Christmas has nothing to do with Santa in terms of the Christian faith.
3) There are many, many older kids on your child’s school bus or elsewhere that are more than happy to disillusion your child in regards to the reality of Santa. If you thought no one was ever going to tell them, you may be delusional.
4) Many children still choose to believe in the concept of “Santa Claus” even after becoming aware in a practical sense that the presents come from a more mundane source.
5) The internet is full of information you may not want your child to know about. Either step up and take control of what they’re looking at, or don’t whine about what they happen to see.

It’s the holidays people, relax-it is just a picture. No need to flame believers and non-believers. When I found out when I was younger, I was not upset since I stopped believing. Kids just grow out of santa at one point or another. It happens. They are only upset when they are little, and strongly believe. If a parent tells their child about santa, it’s fine. A good chunk and christian parents do. It just goes with the tradition, and their parents probably told them about santa at one time or another. Relax-it’s a picture. All little kids who believe have heard e’s not real but continued to believe it anyway. Happy Holidays.

Being raised Christian, and being a parent, I approve of this message. Santa isn’t real; to defend him is to keep up a lie that’s been propagated since ancient times, when many other things were also believed, and brought into the modern age to spread a veneer of overcommercialized glitz over the meaning of Christmas.
Does this mean I won’t promote the imagination of my kids, and use the idea of Santa to help them appreciate the holidays and keep a sense of magic and wonder in their hearts? Of course not. But as soon as they’ve got it figured out, by way of internet, their own thoughts, or whatever else, I’m not going to defend the lie. It’s ridiculous, and anyone over the age of 6 should be well aware of the truth. Otherwise, we’re only practicing forced ignorance.

Wow. I seriously cannot believe that this debate has carried all the way up to Christmas. In the spirit of the holiday, can about we just accpet that Santa isn’t real and drop it? Oh, and merry Christmas.

Technically, Santa as the western cultures see him is based on St. Nicholas; a Trukish bishop. The story of St. Nicholas is that when a poor merchats daughters could not afford to marry, he having previously been very rich but giving everything up to be more involved in the Chuch, dropped enough money down the merchant’s chimeny to avoid having his daughters sold into slavery. His feast date is Dcember 6, which is celebrated in many primarily Catholic countries by leaving small candies and gifts in children’s shoes. Stuff happened, centuries passed, and it evolved into the modern ‘myth’ of Santa Claus. So, at one point, by a technicalty, Santa did exist. If you’re more interested, I just touched the basic points of the story, so I would recomend Googling it.
[And I never thought all those years learning this and stuff like it at Catholic school would ever come in handy =)]
