Mainly I would support the warm feeling because they usually sit around the engine after the car has been used.

In rare cases stray cats will crawl under the car next to the engine for warmth in cold weather and get ripped apart upon activation of the engine. However I am glad this is not the case in this picture.

Cats also leave little cat paw prints all over cars. Contrary to popular belief, they do not do this to annoy humans, because cats do not plan far enough ahead to contemplate a plan like “If I go walk all over the human’s car tonight, I will be able to enjoy the thought of him being angry when he discovers my handiwork”.

Do cats have any trouble gripping the slick metal surface of a car? I’m not sure how much traction their paw pads provide compared to human hands and shoes.

Think of cat paw pads as being finger pads. How much traction do your bare feet have on a car after you’ve been barefoot all day?

I also say that some cats DO plan ahead to annoy people, they’re just few and far between.

I have a Jeep and my cats would sleep on the top of it because that put them above most everyone. Cats like to be up high. Plus, they figured out where to lie so I couldn’t get to them without opening the door and standing on the frame. Hence, sometimes, I’d give up trying to get them in right away.

I find that cats don’t seem to have a problem with the car’s surface. If they can still jump very well, they will find a place where they can jump onto from the ground which allows them enough traction to continue over the car. One of mine used to jump onto the front bumper and then onto the hood.

I take cat paws on my car as a sign that I am loved enough they leave their mark everywhere.

The text at the bottom is one of the best parts! I love the small “how cats work” captions.
