There are breeds of cats which enjoy swimming, and there are individual cats in many breeds which may enjoy it, or at least not detest it as is stereotypically expected of the majority of cats. In my experience, though, many cats do not enjoy water, and therefore they also do not enjoy swimming; I have known a few cats, though, who enjoyed swimming but did not otherwise enjoy “water play” (sprinklers, sinks, baths, and that sort of thing).
This cat is being cited as not enjoying swimming because of the “expression” on its face, though the cat is not expressing displeasure through a facial expression, but more likely is exerting itself swimming, thus explaining the “face” that it is making.

Lord Voldemort, called Lord Lovedormt by his friends says:
I had a kitty that fell in the bathtub with me and loved it. After that I gave her baths on a regular basis(no soap included) because she enjoyed it so much.
Too bad she decided to try and eat my computer power cord one night. I miss you Snickers!!!
Lets stop this before it becomes another Harry Potter fan frenzy page like spells became. Please, this site is for the everyday antics of the average cat, not for discussing our obsession over an overrated series of books about things that are completely unrelated to the average persons (or cats) world.
I’m sorry, but you must allow a person the right to marvel at an excellent series of books with so few flaws. If you call this a needless obsession, then what, really, is the Twilight fanclub? Millions fawning over some piece of literary crap just because the main character sparkles in the sunlight? Now THAT, my perhaps-not friend, is overratedness.
Thank you lulzfish. This site is about CATS, not Harry Potter, not Twilight. I don’t even understand why Harry Potter would be brought up/continued on about on a site about average cats. This isn’t MLIA. So please, even though I detest things like that on MLIA, it’s more appropriately placed there than here.
Actually, although this site is about cats, which we all know and love (except lulzfish), the Spells cat makes a direct Harry Potter reference. Therefore, that page is about both cats, and Harry Potter, meaning comments to either subject are only fitting. This particular cat has nothing specifically to do with HP, so the fear of HP comments is at least understandable, if not warranted. If someone is reminded of HP (which is, after all, a big part of culture today), what’s wrong with commenting on the fact?
This is true. But most cats (mine DEFINATLEY being one) do not like swimming. Ive got the cuts to prove it too. NO i did NOT try to get my cat to swim! Baths piss my cat off BIG TIME!!! Ill just put it that way.
My cat absolutely HATES water. It takes forever for his coat to dry, and until then, he smells funny. Poor Armadragus Fluffy Butt Bubbles Tiddles… with with Maine Coon genes… Yay for Mr. Tiddles!!!!
Actually, this is a picture of our cat I took about 2 summers ago in our pool. She actually enjoys the water. Her face is scrunched like that because she’s trying to hold her wiskers out of the water, and the ears were particularly flat in this shot, but really, she enjoys the water.
There are certain cats, including certain house cats that enjoy swimming and love water. This is not what most average cats are like, but I thought I would just point that out.

By far, the funniest “expression” of a cat on this site! I LOVE it.

Seeing as how the ears are pointed out to the side, one would guess that the cat is angered, giving away signs it does not enjoy this particular swim.

Regardless of whether any book series or another sucks, this site is about cats, not books, and certainly not fictional characters from books.

KILL! FLUFFY! KILL!
He looks like a bad guy from a Dinsey movie …
He should have been hired for “Titanic.” I’d be more scared of that cat than a sinking boat any day!

Actually, I have to force my cat out of the shower when I’m in it. He loves getting wet.

This reminds me of the part in the Aristocats where Thomas is in the river with the geese.

My favourite breed of cat, the Turkish Van, is one of the few brands of cat that do love to swim. They will take a dip whenever they can!
