YES THEY DO! Which is why they spend about a third of their lives grooming. However they don’t use mirrors to do this and they almost certainly never enter the Lacanian mirror-stage that allows them to recognise that it is their own reflection and not that of another cat (or just a confusing, moving, fuzzy shape)
No, cats do not care how their hair looks dumb-ass, cats only care about maintaining their cleanliness, since they are fastidiously clean animals. Way to sound like a douche by quoting psychology, when everyone knows it is not a real science.
Cats are much more concerned with how their hair feels than how it looks, as they do not have any sense of attempting to look good for any occasion or impressing those around them. They are fastidiously clean, but this is only tangentially related to the human concepts of cleanliness being tied to good hygiene and general appearance.
Actually, the cat probably thought there was an enemy cat on the other side of the glass of the mirror, so it was trying to get to the other side. Also, I LOVE your username Fred Weasley! I’ve convinced so may people that I’m Luna and that Luna and Fred were married, and she’s a widow now! Yes, I know that was totally irrelevant to the picture.

Cats don’t know or care about psychology, neither do they know or care whether it can be considered science.

Fur. Hair continues to grow. Fur does not. Cats do not show self awareness so the mirror can have no purpose for the cat.

My cat can recognise herself in the mirror. In fact she likes to look at herself in the mirror.
