Imagine what would happen if cats developed thumbs… it would put a whole new twist to “my cat put his paws on my keyboard and sent an email saying ‘kdjfhasilfhu’”
oooo i did a report on polydactyl at school! i love kittys with polydactyl theyre so cute! sometimes they get opposable thumbs and sneak out of their houses cuz they figure out how to open windows
I would argue that a domestic shorthair with extra toes is as close or closer to average than a purebred cat with normal paws. There are purebred cats represented on this site. Look to the hairless cat for something farther from the norm. Extra toes? Well, they show up in outdoor cat populations, and seem to be pretty heritable…
Well, okay…but you could’ve said ‘Evolution kitteh: Now with opposable thumbs and lazer eyes! dun dun dun!!!’ I mean, just look at his eyes! I didn’t notice the thumbs until I read the caption. Ichc is way more legit than this!!!!!
Thumb cats are amazing! I have several cats w/ thumbs and we’ve actually been able to breed them and get more. We have one cat that has 6 toes on his back paws, and 7 on his front paws.

I have an aunt with a cat named “thumby.” It kills weasels. Tough little bastard.

I once wrote a Sherlock Holmes pastiche that relied upon a number of kittens having polydactyly. Fun stuff.

My cat has 7 toes on both front paws. Her balance is much worse then my other cat who only has 5 but she stills lives her life as an average cat
