cats do have a version of thumbs, just not the opposoble thumbs that humans and other primates do. I believe on cats as well as dogs it’s called a dewclaw(?) and it’s the shortest of ther fingers/claws.
A polydactyl cat — a cat with extra toes — can appear to have thumbs. But extra toes would not make it much easier for a cat to play console video games. Such things require the appropriate thought processes as well as the necessary appendages.
I don’t think you need thumbs to play with an XBox controller – but really you need an interest and cat’s really don’t need XBox they pretty much have the perfect life.
Technically, one does not “play Xbox”. One can play games on an Xbox, but not said Xbox itself.
