Cats are not concerned about grammar. Apparently neither is the creator of this picture, who apparently does not know that IT’S means “it is”, while ITS without an apostrophe should be used for “belonging to it”.
If an individual chooses to demonstrate grammatical ineptitude in a public forum, that individual should expect to have others notice and correct the error.
It is not mean to correct someone’s grammatical errors. It may be done in a mean way, but is frequently an attempt to help the person by improving his or her grammar, as well as a boon to bystanders who might benefit from the correction by learning the correct grammar.
As for this picture, it is silly. Cats do not wear lampshades, nor does that object resemble a lampshade.
If cats did somehow care about the size of their butts, they would probably prefer to have large butts because that would mean they were well fed. Cats do care about being well fed.
But that point is moot, because cats do not, in fact, care about the size of their butts.
Pointing out poor grammar in a mean way is still mean and considerably less likely to be taken under advisement be the person being corrected. Especially given that its/it’s is one of the more confusing grammar rules out there since ’s is usually used to represent possession, which is how the captioner used it. It isn’t like your/you’re or their/there/they’re which are fairly clear in their usage.
That being said, yes, the lampshade does make that cat’s butt look big. No, the cat doesn’t care.
